Charles had a difficult childhood with his parents going in and out of debt throughout his life. His parents' names were John and Elizabeth Dickens. He was the second child out of seven. He attended school at Kent, and then in 1822 his family moved to London. When Charles was only 12 years old, he had to help his family out with their fiances, and he worked in the factory. While working in the factory, Charles's dad, John, was thrown in jail due to being in debt.
He spent most of his time outside enjoying the weather, small framed, and reading.
Charles Dickens first novel was The Pickwick Papers, which was his first full novel. Although that was Charles's first work, his best work was A Christmas Carol. Then after that he wrote Great Expectations and Tale of Two Cities. He was amazing writer and had many famous writings.
Fun Facts: Most of his writings were in serial form and then later on in the years he began to write in book form, his last book "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" was never finished, he wrote a Christmas story every year, had seven sons and three daughters, and wanted to become an actor.
